Volunteer FAQ

What roles are there?

We split the roles into ‘cooks’ and ‘volunteers’.
  • Cooks will typically make the hot meal and sandwiches during the day on Sunday and bring this down to the centre for 4.30 pm. If you don’t have a car and live local to Guildford we might be able to arrange collection. Cooks are not required to stay and serve.
  • Volunteers will come to the centre for 4:30 pm until close and help finish off the food, serve & support the guests and pack away at the end. We usually finish between 7:00 pm and 7:15 pm. We will have 2 duty coordinators (keyholders) on duty, alongside 3 volunteers. We try our best to balance the genders of our volunteers.

How do I get involved?

Please email our chair and he will then take your details and put you in touch with the duty coordinator (keyholder) who will organise a time for a short taster centre at Beverley Hall to suit you.

** We currently need male volunteers so if you are interested or know someone, please send them our way **

Do I need to attend or cook every week?

We run a rota system and both volunteers and cooks are typically ‘on duty’ every 4 weeks. Rotas run for 3-4 months at a time. The rota co-ordinator will ask before the start of the next which dates you can’t do, and we will work out the rest!
